Like being ‘an enslaved person’: Why former prisoners are suing Pennsylvania over ‘prison gerrymandering’

By counting prisoners as living in their prisons and not their home addresses, Pennsylvania’s system for drawing political maps benefits white, rural voters at the expense of urban ones, disproportionately affecting people of color.

A pregnant woman was shot in North Philadelphia this afternoon. She and her baby have both died. Police haven’t released many details yet, but the investigation appears to be focused on the 800 block of Dauphin.
